ABOUT

Background and Experience

Rachel is a warm, empathic and collaborative clinical psychologist with several years of experience across private, not-for-profit and public health settings. Rachel enjoys working with adults and older adults, and sees clients 16 years and older. She has experience delivering treatment to a range of presentations including but not limited to; adjustment difficulties, grief, low mood, stress, anxiety, emotional dysregulation, trauma, interpersonal difficulties, gender dysphoria/ transitioning, borderline personality disorder, obsessive and compulsive disorder, autism, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and the impacts of chronic health conditions.

Originally from Singapore and having lived in various Australian states before returning to live in Melbourne, Rachel enjoys working with people from all walks of life, cultures and beliefs.

Therapeutic Approach

Rachel draws from evidence-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), and trauma-informed treatments in her clinical practise. She believes that while challenges are a part of life, no one has to go through it alone.

Utilising a relational approach, Rachel aims to create a safe place for clients to explore their challenges and move towards having a more enriched and fulfilling life. She anchors her practice in the belief that “knowledge is power”, and your confidence to enact change will come with the supportive development of stronger insight, self-compassion and understanding of oneself along with access to evidence-based skills and strategies that Rachel will work collaboratively with you to establish.

In addition to a caring approach, Rachel’s strength is in synthesising and simplifying psychological concepts, so they are easy for clients to understand and relate to, to apply to their lives. Rachel uses a neuroaffirming approach when working with neurodivergent individuals.
