ABOUT

Background and Experience

Aaron is a registered Psychologist who completed his undergraduate studies at Deakin University in Melbourne, before moving to the ACT to complete his Master of Clinical Psychology at the University of Canberra. Aaron has experience in working with individuals of all ages across the lifespan. He has worked with clients to address presenting issues such as depression, anxiety, adjustment, social difficulties, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and trauma. Aaron has particular interest and considerable experience with Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), and has worked with adolescents, young adults and parents who experience emotional dysregulation, difficulties with distress tolerance and challenges with interpersonal interactions. He has previously worked in the family violence sector, and has also worked closely with Veterans presenting with features of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder.

Therapeutic Approach

Aaron practises with warmth, collaboration and compassion. He adopts a validating and non-judgemental approach and cultivates an environment of acceptance to encourage change. He is influenced by psychodynamic theory and draws upon evidence-based modalities such as Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to support clients in achieving their therapeutic goals. Aaron acknowledges that the lives of his clients are difficult as they are currently being lived - and with this understanding he strives to collaboratively assist clients to move towards the life they want to live.

Areas of Interest

Aaron enjoys working with a broad range of presentations. He has a particular interest in supporting individuals who experience difficulty with managing distressing emotions, and the difficulties this can have on behaviour, interpersonal relationships and living a meaningful life.
